Community Services, Health and Wellbeing

July 5, 2012 · bendigotafeopenday

Enhance the knowledge, skills and qualifications you need to work in children’s and community services, as well as the health industry. As part of your course, enjoy on the job training and work placement opportunities throughout the region. Many of these courses are targeted specifically to support people who have been working in these industries and have practical experience but lack formal qualifications.

Aged Care and Disability
If you are a caring person and like to lend a helping hand, supporting those who need assistance, aged care and disability studies may be your next endeavor. Investigate study in caring for the elderly or the disabled, where you will learn how to provide personal care and individualised support.

Children’s Services
If you are someone with lots of energy, have a creative personality, enjoy the company of children and are interested in enhancing their lives, then you could be just the person for children’s services. You will explore health, safety and accident prevention, child development and behavioural studies, communicating with children, program planning, play and leisure.

Community Services
If you are caring, understanding and enjoy helping others around you, then a career in community services is a great place for you to apply your skills. Areas of study include leisure and health, social housing, youth work, mental health, youth justice and occupational health and safety.

Nursing and Allied Health
Studying health will arm you with the knowledge that you need to be involved with many aspects of the health care world. You can assist with allied health programs, know how to comply with infection control policies and procedures, assist with client movement, interpret and apply medical terminology, and recognise healthy body systems in a health care context. You will learn to understand and maintain a high standard of client service, and you can tailor your studies to address specific workplace requirements that affect you. Choose from health support, dental and nursing.
